Job summary

Boston Medical Center seeks a breastfeeding care nurse to manage and evaluate lactation care for new mothers. You will collaborate with physicians and the health team as a primary care provider, and you will plan, implement and assess educational programs in breastfeeding.

The role requires an Associate Degree in Nursing, Maryland RN license, and IBCLC certification, with at least two years of related clinical lactation experience. CPR is required; lifting up to 20 lbs in a post-partum setting.

Qualifications

  • 2 years full-time (or equivalent) direct clinical lactation experience.
  • Knowledge of lactation theory and patient education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and productivity applications.
  • Ability to assess patients and plan interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Nursing management and evaluation of care for patients in the breastfeeding program.
  • Functions as a primary care provider in collaboration with physicians and health team members.
  • Plans, implements and evaluates educational programs related to breast feeding.
