Job summary

St. David’s Medical Center is seeking a Lactation Consultant RN to champion breastfeeding education and support for patients. You will train maternal staff to ensure consistent information and high-quality counseling for new mothers.

You will also collaborate across disciplines, assist with staffing during low census, and lead outpatient education and childbirth classes, covering infant feeding goals and family education.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 2 years’ lactation educator experience in inpatient setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with all healthcare disciplines to execute the patient’s plan of care.
• Provide staffing flexibility, including labor and delivery support when census is low.
• Consider developmental goals for infants and patients during assessments.
• Provide outpatient education and support for expectant/new parents.
• Conduct classes on breastfeeding according to defined objectives.
