Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a Lactation Registered Nurse to join the Mother-Baby team for full-time night shift. The role provides lactation consultation and hands-on support for breastfeeding initiation and sustainment in both inpatient and outpatient settings, at bedside and during discharge planning.

The position includes training staff in lactation support, developing care plans, and mentoring nursing and allied health staff to ensure evidence-based practice across shifts.

Qualifications

• Active Kentucky Nursing License required.
• Two years of relevant nursing experience required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) required.
• IBCLC certification within 1 year is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation consultation and hands-on breastfeeding support for mothers in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Develop and implement care plans to initiate and sustain breastfeeding using evidence-based practices.
• Mentor and train nursing and allied health staff on lactation support at the bedside.

Job Summary:

The lactation consultant is a member of the Mother-Baby team who provides consultation and hands onassistance for mothers experiencing difficulties related to breast feeding initiation/sustainment in both theinpatient and outpatient setting (prenatally and beyond discharge from the hospital.) The lactation consultant isresponsible for initiating a plan of care to provide consistent and evidence-based practice interventions. Thelactation consultant provides staff training in lactation support and gives direction by mentoring to nursing andallied health staff at the bedside.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree in nursing.
• Active Kentucky License.
• Two years of relevant work experience required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required.
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)/Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) required.
• International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) within 1 year.
