Job summary

Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah seeks an RN Lactation Consultant to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate breastfeeding care using the nursing process. You will educate, consult, and support new mothers across inpatient and outpatient settings.

This role requires an active RN license, a BSN, BLS-HCP on hire or within 60 days, and the ability to provide prenatal classes, home visits, and staff education as a clinical resource.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start date.
• BLS-HCP certification on hire or within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; must obtain BSN within four years if applicable.
• Two years of maternal/child nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate breastfeeding management using the nursing process.
• Provide holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support for women and families.
• Advocate for breastfeeding as the child-feeding norm.
• Offer outpatient care, consultation, and home visits for breastfeeding difficulties.
• Deliver prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluate educational outcomes.
• Educate patients and families; serve as a clinical expert/resource for staff.
• Contribute to policies and educational programs supporting breastfeeding.
