Job summary

Care New England Health System is seeking a Per Diem Breastfeeding Education Nurse to educate patients, staff and the community about breastfeeding.

The role includes rounds on breastfeeding mothers, prenatal class coordination, and post-discharge follow-up with thorough documentation and policy review.

RI State RN Licensure and RI State Lactation Consultant Certificate are required; RN-IBCLC is also required.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in RI required; minimum six months related experience.
• RI State Lactation Consultant Certificate required.
• RN-IBCLC certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform rounds on breastfeeding mothers to reinforce and augment teaching; follow up by phone after discharge.
• Serve as a resource for patients, physicians, nurses, staff and HME breastfeeding product station.
• Coordinate and implement prenatal breastfeeding classes and staff education.
• Conduct home/hospital visits and continued telephone consultations after discharge.
• Maintain documentation and statistics.
• Review and evaluate breastfeeding policies, equipment and literature with recommendations.
• Maintain communication with community support groups and refer patients to them.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
