Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is seeking a Per Diem Nurse Coordinator - Lactation to apply clinical expertise in breastfeeding education and counseling. You will lead the patient care team, mentor staff, and share current evidence-based practices to improve lactation management.

The role partners with health professionals to promote breastfeeding and support staff development, with a focus on quality care, safety, and compliance with NY state standards. Per diem schedule available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license is required.
• International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBLCE) required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
• Basic computer knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Manages department resources within a fiscal framework and budgets; prepares budgets and related reports.
• Delivers interactive staff forums; coordinates monthly meetings and attendance tracking.
• Maintains clinical knowledge base; pursues CEUs (minimum 20 annually) related to specialty and role.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Establishes and evaluates patient care standards and participates in process improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrates accountability in staffing, scheduling and team building.
