Job summary

SolutionHealth in Nashua, NH, is seeking a part-time Lactation Consultant to assess, develop, and implement a culturally appropriate plan of care to support the breastfeeding patient. This role communicates openly with patients, families, and the healthcare team within the Birth Place unit.

The position involves coordinating breastfeeding education, referrals, and ongoing support, as well as outpatient consultations and collaboration with the care team to improve lactation services and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current NH licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Must have IBCLC.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development of breastfeeding handouts, protocols and education for staff and parents.
• Make appropriate referrals to support the patient’s desire to breastfeed (i.e. breast pump rental or Durable Medical Equipment providers).
• Incorporate age-specific, developmental needs, prevention strategies, and education into plans of care.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to resolve inpatient and outpatient breastfeeding issues.
• Provide outpatient lactation consultations and telephone guidance to families.
• Participate in gathering of statistics, chart reviews or other activities to improve the quality of Lactation Services.
