The role includes developing care plans, providing outpatient lactation consultations, and collaborating with the obstetric team to ensure patient-centered care.
Candidates must be a registered nurse with NH licensure and IBCLC certification; prior lactation experience and strong patient communication skills are valued.

The Birth Place at Southern New Hampshire Medical Centeris an 18-room Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum unit providing family-centered care for over 1,000 births annually. As a four-time Magnet-designated facility, we uphold the highest standards of nursing excellence, guided by AWHONN best practices and supported by the OBIX Perinatal Data System for continuous fetal monitoring. Staffed 24/7 by board-certified Obstetricians and Certified Nurse Midwives, our multidisciplinary team—including RNs, LNAs, Health Unit Coordinators, lactation consultants, and pediatric and obstetric providers—delivers compassionate, expert care in a seamless environment that includes a Level II Special Care Nursery with Mass General-affiliated Neonatologists. We promote ongoing education and certification in fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, and obstetric emergency management to ensure safe, personalized care for every family.
As a member of the Patient Care Services team, the Lactation Consultant assesses, develops, and implements a culturally appropriate plan of care to support the breastfeeding patient.
