Job summary

Riverside Methodist Hospital is seeking a part-time Lactation Consultant to join the Women’s Center. The role provides patient-focused lactation support, education, and program development to improve breastfeeding outcomes.

The position requires nursing credentials, Ohio RN licensure, and certification in lactation (CLC or IBCLC within 6 months). A BSN is preferred by year five of employment, with a focus on safety and high reliability care.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree required (RN) with Ohio license.
• BSN required by five years of employment.
• Must obtain CLC or IBCLC within 6 months of hire.
• Specialized knowledge in lactation, education and perinatal care.

Responsibilities

• 80% Provides education, demonstration and assistance with correction of breastfeeding problems for mothers and infants, during individualized sessions.
• 8% Maintains equipment, supplies and educational materials; coordinates breast pumps and retail accessories.
• 5% May provide prenatal and post-discharge classes and support for breastfeeding mothers.
• 2% Participates in writing policies, procedures and educational materials for the Lactation Program; maintains continuum of care.
• 3% Engages in continuing education, attends workshops and reads current obstetric, pediatric and lactation literature.
• 2% May participate in research and in-services for staff breastfeeding information.
