Job summary

Catholic Health is seeking a Lactation Consultant (RN/NP/PA) to support breastfeeding patients at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. You will assess needs, coordinate care, and educate families in the postpartum period.

You'll collaborate with physicians and staff to develop care plans that protect milk supply and promote successful breastfeeding, while meeting regulatory standards and facility guidelines.

Qualifications

  • RN/NP/PA licensure in New York state required.
  • BSN degree required; ASN considered if pursuing BSN.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience.
  • 2+ years of management experience preferred.
  • IBCLC certification, BLS, and NRP certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to breastfeeding patients and their families.
  • Assess, plan, intervene, educate, and evaluate lactation support in postpartum period.
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff to develop safe infant feeding plans and protect milk supply.
  • Communicate with the health care team to ensure coordinated care.

Job Details
Our Lactation Consultant's
  • Provide support to breastfeeding patients and their families
  • Function within the scope of practice as identified by the States Board of Nursing, facility guidelines and the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners standards
  • Are responsible for the assessment, planning, intervention, staff education and evaluation of lactation support and education for clients in the postpartum period at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and at the breastfeeding support group post patient discharge.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians and staff as part of the health care team to collaboratively generate a plan of care for safe infant feeding, protecting mother's milk supply and to promote breastfeeding.
What You'll Bring
  • Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration, Nurse Practitioner License & Registration, or Physician Assistant License & Registration
  • Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required
  • Will consider Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) if in pursuit of a Bachelors
  • 5+ years of clinical experience
  • 2+ years of management experience preferred
  • Certification: International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification required
