Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Lactation Consultant (RN/NP/PA) to support breastfeeding patients and families. The role encompasses postpartum lactation assessment, care planning, and staff education within the hospital and post-discharge group sessions.

Applicants must hold NY licensure (RN/NP/PA), possess a BSN, and have 5+ years of clinical experience. IBCLC certification and BLS/NRP are required; ASN in progress may be considered.

Qualifications

Job Details

Our Lactation Consultant's:

• Provide support to breastfeeding patients and their families


• Function within the scope of practice as identified by the States Board of Nursing, facility guidelines and the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners standards


• Are responsible for the assessment, planning, intervention, staff education and evaluation of lactation support and education for clients in the postpartum period at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and at the breastfeeding support group post patient discharge.


• Communicates effectively with physicians and staff as part of the health care team to collaboratively generate a plan of care for safe infant feeding, protecting mother's milk supply and to promote breastfeeding.

What you'll bring:

• Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration, Nurse Practitioner License & Registration, or Physician Assistant License & Registration


• Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required


• Will consider Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) if in pursuit of a Bachelors


• 5+ years of clinical experience


• 2+ years of management experience preferred


• Certification: International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification required

Salary Range

USD $65.20 - USD $78.24 /Hr.
