Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a part-time Lactation Consultant to provide breastfeeding support to in-patients and out-patients, including counseling, classes and support groups. Responsibilities include collaboration with nursing staff and physicians, documentation, and referrals post-discharge.

Qualifications include a High school diploma or equivalent, IBCLC certification or progress toward, and 1 year of counseling experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• College credits toward an Associate Degree or LPN preferred.
• Current IBCLC Certification or in progress.
• One year direct counseling experience with breastfeeding families preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct breastfeeding support to lactating women post-delivery.
• Educate through counseling, classes, and support groups.
• Collaborate with RN and physician on care plan; discharge instructions and referrals.
• Document progress and post-discharge referrals.
• Maintain confidentiality and a safe, clean environment.
