Corewell Health is seeking a Lactation Consultant to join the Mother-Baby unit in Dearborn. The role focuses on patient and family education, consulting with the medical/nursing teams, and extending breastfeeding support across the organization.

The position requires nursing licensure in Michigan, 2 years of maternal-child experience, and IBCLC certification within 2 years. Evening shifts, part-time hours, and a team-based environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• 2 years maternal child experience required.
• RN license in Michigan required.
• IBCLC certification required within 2 years of hire.
• IBCLC preferred at hire with Lactation Consultant experience.
• BLS required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Act as a consultant and resource for medical and nursing staff.
• Serve as a community resource for breastfeeding care across the organization.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for breastfeeding patients.

Scope of work

The Lactation Consultant functions as a member of the health care team by providing patient and family education, acting as a consultant and resource for the medical and nursing staff, and by serving as a community resource for breast feeding related care throughout the organization, not just in Maternal Child Health. The Lactation Consultant uses specific age and culture-related physical, intellectual, psychosocial, and developmental attributes in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for breast feeding patients.

Qualifications

• Required Associate's Degree in nursing
• Preferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• 2 years of relevant experience. 2 years of recent maternal child experience required
• Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan required
• CRT-Board Cert Lactation Consultant (BC-IBCLC) - IBCLCE International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners required within 2 years
• This position Prefers IBCLC upon hire with previous Lactation Consultant experience
• AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
