Job summary

Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ seeks a Lactation Professional to empower new parents and promote optimal infant nutrition. You will provide evidence-based education, assessment, and individualized support prenatally and postpartum, addressing feeding challenges and developing personalized care plans with the healthcare team.

The role requires an Associate's Degree in Nursing, AZ RN license, and IBCLC certification, with BLS/NRP.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Registered Nurse AZ.
Minimum of one (1) year experience with breastfeeding mothers in maternal child health setting.
American Heart Association.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP).
IBCLC Certification.

Responsibilities

Performs routine assignments independently at Chandler Regional Medical Center or Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, dependent on census and staffing needs; hours may include weekends, evenings, days, and holidays at either hospital.
Collaborates with health team including charge nurse, staff nurses, and physicians regarding patient consultations/breastfeeding needs
Prioritizes patient assignments/visits as relates to lactation consultation
Assesses the status and needs of patients in Family Centered Care (FCC), Special Care Nursery (SCC) and Newborn Intensive Care Nursery (NICU).
Evaluates and modifies the plan of care related to breastfeeding, based on observable patient responses and attainment of expected outcomes.
Provides lactation support and documents visit, assessment and plan of care as appropriate.
