Job Summary

POSITION: Event Attendant (Conversion Crew)
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Facility Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Non‑Exempt
Base Salary Range: $21.75 Hourly (Union)

Essential Duties

• Set up chairs, tables, partitions, and other materials/furniture in exhibit halls, lobbies, public and banquet areas, and meeting rooms in preparation for events at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
• Break down and stack chairs, tables, partitions, and other related material/furniture after events.
• Set up risers as required for events.
• Follow directions and read room plans to set up for an event.
• Work efficiently and quickly to set up and break down an area in preparation for an event.
• Maintain proper care of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
• Safely operate assigned Facility Services equipment upon completion of equipment training (e.g., forklift, boom lift, and electric cart).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0–1 year of related work experience; training will be provided on site.
• General work experience in a convention center, hotel, or large public meeting facility is an asset.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a variable schedule, including late hours, early mornings, holidays, and weekends.

Physical Demands

Regularly stand, walk, use hands and arms, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Daily tasks may require bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Noise levels are usually loud.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts. The environment is generally loud.
