Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school and Massachusetts medical license eligibility or license.
  • Board-certified or active candidate for board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Demonstrated commitment to obstetrics education, health equity and quality improvement.
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages is desirable but not required.
  • 3+ years post-residency experience or completion of an OB/Gyn Hospitalist fellowship preferred.
  • Experience in high-volume, high-risk obstetrics preferred.

is recruiting for an Academic Obstetrician in a Hospitalist Role/Laborist.

The Laborist physician will lead a team that provides safe, high-quality, cost-effective obstetrical care using evidence-based medicine and best practices. Physicians in this role will be primarily responsible for managing the obstetric unit, labor management, and deliveries, including operative deliveries. The position includes rounding on antepartum and postpartum

patients, providing obstetric and gynecologic consultations to the inpatient and emergency departments, and consulting for family practice obstetric providers and advanced practice providers. The multi-disciplinary obstetric team currently includes OB/GYN generalists, Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Family Medicine obstetric providers, Physician Assistants, and residents. Additional responsibilities include the education,

training, and supervision of resident physicians and medical students.

  • Full‑time role requires 12 shifts (10-14hours) per month, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts for additional compensation
Qualifications:
  • Applicants must possess an MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school and have or be eligible to obtain a Massachusetts Medical License
  • Applicants must be board‑certified or be an active candidate for board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Demonstrated commitment to obstetrics education, health equity, and quality Improvement
  • Fluency in Spanish, or languages other than English, is highly desirable but not required
  • 3+ years post‑residency experience or completion of an OB/Gyn Hospitalist fellowship preferred
  • Experience in high‑volume, high‑risk obstetrics is also preferred
Compensation:

Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BU-CASM) offers a competitive salary commensurate with academic training and practice experience. We continue to evaluate our compensation plan to remain one of the most competitive in salary and benefits. Academic appointment will be at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Rank will be commensurate to qualifications and experience.

Compensation ranges between $286,213 and $388,800

Sign‑On Bonus: $50,000

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and departmental budget. The above hiring range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
