AtlantiCare is seeking an OB/GYN Laborist to provide inpatient obstetric care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. This role offers 24/7 hospital coverage and opportunities for teaching residents and students.

The position emphasizes strong decision making, teamwork, and patient safety, with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Full-time and part-time options are available to fit staffing needs.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a 4-year OB/GYN residency program.
• Board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Active medical license and DEA registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient obstetric care, including labor management, deliveries (vaginal and cesarean), and postpartum care.
• Perform obstetric triage evaluations and respond to obstetric emergencies.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, midwives, and other physicians to ensure high-quality care.
• Cover for community OB/GYNs who are unavailable during their patients' labor.
• Manage unassigned patients or those without a designated obstetrician.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help develop labor and delivery protocols.
• Educate residents, medical students, and nursing staff as needed.

Unlike traditional OB/GYNs, laborists work exclusively in hospital settings, offering 24/7 coverage to ensure timely and safe obstetric care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient obstetric care, including labor management, deliveries (vaginal and cesarean), and postpartum care.
• Perform obstetric triage evaluations and respond to obstetric emergencies.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, midwives, and other physicians to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
• Cover for community OB/GYNs who are unavailable during their patients' labor.
• Manage unassigned patients or those without a designated obstetrician.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and help develop labor and delivery protocols.
• Educate residents, medical students, and nursing staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a 4-year OB/GYN residency program.
• Board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Valid state medical license and DEA registration.
• Advanced training in high-risk obstetrics or maternal-fetal medicine is a plus.
