Discover a more connected Laborer Telecom Aerial career

At North Sky Communications, as an Aerial Groundsman/Laborer, you'll have prior knowledge or the ability to learn about established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques, including the placement of poles and anchors. Familiarity with a wide range of tools and equipment, the ability to read and understand prints/maps, safety rules, and operating instructions are essential.

This position will be based out of our Sherwood, Oregon location. The company also has offices throughout WA, OR, and ID. Please visit our website for all locations: www.northskycomm.com. Pay range is DOE: $22-28 per hour for entry-level aerial laborers.

What you’ll do as a Laborer Telecom Aerial
  • Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
  • Operate mechanized equipment like bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavators
  • Set up safety perimeters using signage, cones, and barriers
  • Flag traffic when required
  • Understand separation and clearance regulations
  • Work safely aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
  • Work in multiple locations with flexibility
  • Travel when required
What you’ll need
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Pass pre-employment background check, motor vehicle check, drug test, and DOT physical
  • Preferably have construction experience, especially in telecommunications
  • Possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license (CDL preferred)
  • Knowledge of aerial cable installation procedures
  • Ability to climb poles and work in bucket trucks up to 40 feet
  • Perform duties like pole transfers, maintenance, new builds, cable installation, lashings, and strand construction
  • Lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed
  • Set up and maintain safe work areas
  • Work in all weather conditions
Physical abilities & exposures
  • Routinely: Walk, bend, kneel, lift, sit, climb, push, pull, reach, carry objects up to 75 lbs, work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Occasionally: Push, pull, reach, carry objects up to 75 lbs, sit for extended driving periods
Salary Range: $22 - $28 /hour
