In this role, you will install and repair aerial telecommunications cables, ensuring work is performed within customer standards.
Responsibilities include:
- All phases of aerial construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of materials and equipment.
- Hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools.
- Installing and maintaining underground telecommunications cables.
- Climbing into and out of equipment such as trucks, backhoes, trenchers.
- Operating or working around heavy machinery.
- Working in congested or remote areas.
- Maintaining visual and audible contact for safe coordination.
- Performing general construction tasks under supervision.
- Flagging, property, or site restoration.
- Adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with at least 2 years of driving experience or a Class A CDL.
- 0-1+ years of unskilled labor experience; telecommunications experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed.
- Capability to demonstrate proficiency as a pole climber or be certified as one.
- Knowledge of aerial and underground cable installation per applicable codes and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
- 6 months of utility construction experience.
- Ability to read utility maps and interpret prints.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work at least 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential overtime, after-hours, or weekend work.
- Must perform physical activities such as standing, crouching, sitting, bending, reaching, climbing, and lifting.
- Ability to work while wearing safety gear and in adverse weather conditions.
- Exposed to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens.
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed.
