As an Aerial Crew Laborer, you will perform duties related to installing and repairing aerial telecommunications cables, ensuring that the scope of work meets customer standards.
What you'll do...
- Participate in all phases of aerial construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various construction materials and equipment.
- Hand dig using shovels and mechanical tools.
- Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
- Climb into and out of equipment such as trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.
- Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Work in congested or remote areas.
- Maintain visual and audible contact with crew members and all moving or stationary persons, vehicles, and objects to ensure safe coordination.
- Perform general construction work under the supervision of a Foreman or Supervisor.
- Flagging, property, or worksite restoration.
- Maintain safe working habits and conditions in accordance with all regulations, procedures, and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who we are looking for...
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are authorized to work in the United States.
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You possess a valid standard Driver's License with at least 2 years of driving experience or a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
- You have 0-1 or more years of unskilled labor experience; experience in telecommunications is a plus.
- You can lift and carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed, with or without assistance.
- You may be a certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency.
- You have knowledge of installing aerial and underground cables and support structures in compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and customer specifications (such as NEC Electrical Code and local standards).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
- Six months of experience in utility construction.
- Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify underground utilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform the duties for at least 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential overtime, after-hours, weekends, or on-call work.
- Requires standing, crouching, sitting, bending, handling or feeling with hands and fingers, reaching high and low, climbing, balancing, crawling, lifting, and stooping.
- Ability to work while wearing safety boots, glasses, and a hardhat.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, wind, rain, snow, sleet, dust, and challenging driving conditions.
- Potential exposure to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed, with or without assistance.
