Job summary

The City of Cleveland Heights is seeking a Laborer for the Division of Parks & Public Properties. Responsibilities will include grass cutting, snow removal, and maintenance of outdoor facilities such as ballfields, pools, rink, courts, skate park, and restrooms.

This is a 40-hour per week position with flexibility for nights and weekends as needed. Laborers work under the first or second shift foreman and may perform indoor maintenance tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio CDL Class B is required.
• Experience driving pickup & dump trucks preferred.
• Physically able to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Ability to lift approximately 100 pounds safely.
• Knowledge of safe work practices with equipment & chemicals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Available for emergencies requiring overtime hours.
• Reliable attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Operation of vehicles, including pickup trucks, salt trucks, snowplows, mowers and tractors.
• Operation of equipment, including chain saws and brush chippers.
• Maintenance of ballfields, pools, ice rink, courts, shelters, skate park, and restrooms.
• May include indoor duties, including interior maintenance of buildings.

The City of Cleveland Heights is seeking a Laborer for the Division of Parks & Public Properties. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, depending on the season.

This position is for 40 hours a week, but requires flexibility in scheduling and duties. Weekly distribution of hours determined by the needs of the division. Applicants should be able to work nights and weekends if required.

This position receives instructions from the first or second shift foreman depending on the shift assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Grass cutting and snow removal, horticulture activities, collection of leaves and litter.
• Operation of vehicles, including pickup trucks, salt trucks, snowplows, mowers and tractors.
• Operation of equipment, including chain saws and brush chippers.
• The ongoing daily maintenance of ballfields, pools, ice rink, basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic shelters, skate park, soccer fields and all outdoor/indoor restroom facilities
• May also include indoor duties, including interior maintenance of buildings

Qualifications

Typical Qualifications

• A valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B is required for this position.
• Experience driving various types of larger vehicles including pickup and dump trucks is preferred
• Be in excellent physical condition with the ability to perform manual labor outdoors in all climatic conditions
• The ability to safely lift approximately 100 pounds independently
• Knowledge of safe work practices from the operation of equipment to the proper use of cleaning chemicals
• Communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, supervisors and the general public
• Available for emergencies requiring overtime hours
• Reliable attendance is required

Education And/Or Experience

High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Certification/ Licensure

Ohio Commercial Driver's License
