Job summary

The City of Cleveland Heights is seeking a dedicated Public Works worker to safely operate equipment for cleaning and maintaining catch basins, manholes, and sanitary and storm sewers. The role requires versatility to assist other Public Works divisions and may include shift changes as needed by the department.

Qualified candidates will hold a valid Ohio Class B CDL with an excellent driving record, possess or be willing to learn camera inspection tech, and perform heavy outdoor labor in all

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have an Ohio Commercial Driver's License (Class B) and an excellent driving record.
• Prefer experience driving various types of larger vehicles including pickup and dump trucks.
• Position requires an individual in good physical condition to perform extensive heavy manual labor outdoors in all weather.
• Experience with power tools such as air compressor, cement mixer, power saw, air hammer, and electric power sewer snake is required.
• Knowledge of storm and sanitary sewer mains, residential and commercial sewer laterals, and catch basins is required.
• Knowledge in operation of a lateral mini-camera for televising sewers is preferred.
• Must be available for emergency calls through pager system and report within 45 minutes for emergencies.
• Must follow verbal and written instructions and work well with others.
• Reliable attendance is required.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have an Ohio Commercial Driver's License (Class B) and an excellent driving record
• Prefer experience driving various types of larger vehicles including pickup and dump trucks
• Position requires an individual in good physical condition to perform an extensive amount of heavy manual labor outdoors in all climatic conditions
• Must be experienced with power tools such as an air compressor, cement mixer, power saw, air hammer, and electric power sewer snake
• Must be knowledgeable in all phases of waste collection systems such as storm and sanitary sewer mains, residential and commercial sewer laterals and catch basins.
• Knowledge in the operation of a lateral mini-camera for the televising of sewers is preferred.
• Must be available for emergency calls through a pager system when not on regular duty (nights, weekends, and holidays) and be able to report to the Utility building within a 45-minute time period for emergency situations
• Must be able to carry out verbal and written instructions and work well with others
• Reliable attendance required
