ASR Group Packaging Department is seeking a Packaging Laborer to support multiple stations in the Packaging Department. This entry-level role involves packaging, sealing and conveying sugar products, with repetitive hand and body movements and exposure to sugar dust.

You will perform tasks across packaging stations and help keep areas clean. The job requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overtime.

OVERVIEW

The Packaging Laborer may be assigned to a variety of packaging, cleaning or reprocessing positions. The Packaging Laborer may be assigned to any station or location in the Packaging Department. This is an entry level position requiring continuous heavy labor activities. Assignments may include repetitive hand, arm, and body movements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Position performs necessary function required to package, seal and convey sugar packages and various packing station producing product in weights from 1 to 2000 pounds.
• Station tasks could include check weighing, cutting-in of damage packages, station cleaning, sorting and stacking of station materials and packaging containers, lifting packaged materials weighing 24 to 50 pounds for hand palletizing and check weighing and other tasks as assigned.
• Operates industrial hand trucks to transport palletized materials.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• This position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime, as needed. Weekend shifts may be mandated based on business needs.
• Positions require standing and walking 6-8+ hours per day, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to grasp, push, and pull.
• Position is required to wear PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection and hard hat.
• Packaging stations are noisy (hearing protection is required) and conditions are associated with a food packing environment. Packaging Laborer is exposed to refined sugar and sugar dust, cleaning soaps, lubricants and work around moving equipment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Preferred previous experience in manufacturing environment
• Preferred previous experience operating machinery and equipment
• Preferred previous experience with LOTO procedures
• Preferred previous experience with food safety

PAY RATE

• Hourly Rate: $27.10
