Job summary

Obsolete Site is seeking a physically capable laborer for Army NAF facilities in New Jersey. The role involves performing heavy manual labor, lifting 80–100 pounds, and using heavy equipment with proper training.

You will assist with grounds maintenance, building cleaning with power sprayers, digging, and general facility upkeep. A one-year probation and background checks apply; valid driver’s license and medical certification are required.

Job description

Duties
  • Perform heavy physical labor requiring the frequent lifting and carrying of items and furniture weighing 80 to 100 pounds or more.
  • Operate heavy powered equipment performing tasks that require prior work experience and training.
  • Such tasks include ground maintenance on grades and slopes, digging ditches and trenches, washing buildings using high pressure sprayers, operating tillers to prepare lawns for sod and bedding plants, and cutting trees using axes or chain saws.
  • Performs general maintenance of NAF facilities requiring use of heavy powered equipment and heavy tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PCS Costs
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

  • Access to certain federal facilities may require a REAL ID-compliant driver's license/ID (marked with a star) or an Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) from WA, MI, MN, NY, or VT.
