Job summary

Obsolete Site is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul major vehicle components at Fort Bragg. You will dismantle, reassemble, and test engines, transmissions, differentials, and related systems according to technical manuals and industry practices.

The role requires working with diverse test equipment, adhering to safety and hazardous waste rules, and performing tests on repaired systems to ensure operational readiness.

Requirements

• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.

• Must possess a valid driver's license as required by local/state or military regulations.
• Exposed to drafts, noise, fumes, dirt, dust and grease, and automotive fluids that may cause irritation from chemicals.
• Required to follow safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, and safety glasses and exercise proper handling of equipment and hazardous materials to avoid serious injury in the work area.
• Work is often performed in tiring, awkward and uncomfortable positions. Frequent standing, bending, stooping and crawling.
• Must be able to lift supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.

• This job is open to candidates who is within the Local / Surrounding Commuting Area. NOTE: Local / Surrounding Commuting area is defines as within 50 miles of Fort. Bragg. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.

PCS Costs

• Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

Allowances and Differentials

• This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
• Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
