Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Laborer Apprentice I to learn the trade while assisting with preparation, handling, and supplying of materials for other crafts.

Key tasks include loading/unloading equipment, erecting scaffolding, leveling ground, mixing and placing concrete, and maintaining a clean site. Must be enrolled in an Apprentice Aptitude Program and able to lift up to 50 lbs. Visa sponsorship not offered.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Apprentice Aptitude Program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to use tools and equipment (power/non-powered) such as vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers.
• Strong teamwork, positive attitude, customer service, detail orientation, active listening and communication.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Duties subject to change without notice.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.

• Move and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer Apprentice I that will be responsible for learning the trade while assisting with preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend motor and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and loading or burning of debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Enrolled in Apprentice Aptitude Program
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment, such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills and jackhammers, forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail oriented; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
