Job summary

Peak Utility Infrastructure is seeking a Laborer II in Grand Junction, CO, to support underground utility construction and maintenance as part of a crew. CDL A is required for this position; bilingual skills are a plus.

This is a full-time, on-site role with pay ranging from $26.00 to $30.00 per hour. You will assist crew leaders, operate jackhammers and drills, help locate underground obstructions, and maintain a safe work site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent desired.
• CDL A is required for this position.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver’s License within two weeks of employment.
• Background checks and pre-employment drug screen required.

Pay Rate: $26.00 - $30.00

Essential Functions:

These crews are responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and working with their crew to complete tasks for the day.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist crew leader in construction/ reconstruction and maintenance work
• Assist equipment operators, swamping, hand digging, locating underground obstructions
• Work with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other necessary tools
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
• Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump truck
• Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards

Success Factors:

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift
• Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
• Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
• English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
• Willingness and ability to learn additional skills

Experience and Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent desired
• Experience working with underground utilities desired
• CDL A is required for this position
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
• Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
