Job summary

Peak Utility Infrastructure in Kentucky seeks crew members for underground utility projects in residential and commercial areas. You will assist the crew leader, operate with jackhammers, rotary drills, and related tools, and help prepare sites for daily work.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, experience with underground utilities preferred, ability to lift up to 80 lbs, and pass a background check and drug screen.

Qualifications

  • CDL A is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist crew leader in construction/reconstruction and maintenance work
  • Assist equipment operators, swamping, hand digging, locating underground obstructions
  • Work with jackhammers, rotary drills and other tools
  • Signal equipment operators to coordinate movement and alignment
  • Work safely around heavy machinery and prepare sites

Job description

Peak Utility Infrastructure is an integrated engineering and construction company that serves the Electric, Natural Gas, and Telecommunications industries. Pay Rate:$20.00 - $22.00

Essential Functions:

These crews are responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and working with their crew to complete tasks for the day.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist crew leader in construction/ reconstruction and maintenance work
  • Assist equipment operators, swamping, hand digging, locating underground obstructions
  • Work with specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners and other necessary tools
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
  • Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers and dump truck
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards

Success Factors:

  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift
  • Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
  • Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
  • English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional skills

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Experience working with underground utilities desired
  • CDL A is a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
