Job description

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for scheduling and completing maintenance tasks in a timely manner. The employee must ensure maintenance duties are completed safely and with quality. The position works under the supervision of the foreperson but may receive directions from the Superintendent or Department Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform roads and bridge maintenance.
• Operate equipment, with basic carpentry and masonry skills, and knowledge of PennDot publications regarding work zone traffic control.
• Perform heavy physical exertion.
• Be available for emergency call-outs during off-hours and weekends.
• Operate county vehicles, including pickup trucks and backhoes, requiring a valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class A or B.
• Coordinate with Crew Chief, Foreman, and Administrator.
• Determine the appropriate signs needed and gather required materials based on the sign manual.
• Be essential personnel and available for on-call duties.
• Assist with snow and ice removal, including operating plows.
