The Prince George’s County Department of The Environment is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill aLaborer I/II , grade A06/A08 position, in the Resource Recovery Division.
About the Position
This is full-performance level, manual labor position in the performance of unskilled tasks of a physically demanding nature. Work is performed with general supervision, either in a crew or alone.
About the Agency
The Department of the Environment works for a healthy, beautiful and sustainable County through programs that provide clean water, flood control, recycling and waste management, litter prevention, sustainable animal management and pet adoption in partnership with residents and other stakeholders. Some of our core services include providing clean water services (Stormwater Management Division); flooding prevention for buildings and structures (Sustainability Division and Stormwater Management Division); collecting, processing and diverting waste from the County-operated landfill, commercial facilities and householders (Resource Recovery Division); providing sustainability services to reduce greenhouse gas and emission (Sustainability Division); and facilitating pet adoptions, managing an animal holding facility, issuing pet licenses, investigating cruelty complaints and conducting humane outreach and education events (Animal Services Division).
Performs all forms of manual labor tasks, working with a crew or alone, in support of landfill operations and maintenance, construction and/or daily waste disposal tasks.
Operates County owned equipment and vehicles as assigned.
Adheres to and practices safe work habits in the performance of all assigned tasks to include flagging traffic.
Performs other related work as assigned.
Performs grounds maintenance activities to include, but not limited to: grass cutting, seeding and fertilizing; Tree trimming, removal and planting; trimming shrubbery; clearing brush, trash removal, clean gutters, and other tasks as assigned.
Cleans and washes landfill equipment and vehicles.
Removes debris from track equipment, cleans floors, carpets, walls and windows of landfill buildings and other such tasks as assigned.
Clean up and remove windblown trash and debris, leaf removal, and other debris from landfill properties and adjacent roadways.
