Position Overview

The Department of The Environment is seeking qualified applicants for a Laborer I/II, grade A06/A08, position in the Resource Recovery Division. This is a full-performance, manual labor position involving unskilled tasks of a physically demanding nature, performed under general supervision either in a crew or alone.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor tasks supporting landfill operations, construction, and waste disposal.
• Operate county-owned equipment and vehicles as assigned.
• Follow safety procedures, including flagging traffic.
• Perform grounds maintenance such as grass cutting, seeding, fertilizing, tree trimming, and trash removal.
• Clean and wash landfill equipment and vehicles.
• Remove debris from landfill properties and adjacent roadways.

Qualifications

• Completion of six (6) school grades or equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements

• Knowledge of manual labor tasks and tools.
• Ability to work safely around equipment.
• Ability to use simple hand tools and follow instructions.
• Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
