Responsibilities

As a Laborer/Groundman, you are responsible for providing general labor for aerial and underground construction projects. You believe in doing the job right, being the best, and you’re up for the challenge. In addition, you will:

  • Be responsible for manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading materials, and preparing job sites with hand tools like shovels, rakes, and picks.
  • Perform fiber blowing operations as directed, assisting in the installation of fiber optic cable using fiber-blowing equipment.
  • Conduct general labor on construction sites.
  • Conduct placement of conduit as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Be involved in map reading and directions.
  • Support trench digging and closing.
  • Support movement of materials and vehicles as directed.
  • Perform maintenance services including cleanup, vehicle washing, landscaping.
  • Follow safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment from trucks to other machinery as certified.
  • Tow trailers with flatbed trucks.
  • Conduct aerial/underground work as needed and trained.
  • Troubleshoot RF and Fiber line or equipment issues.
  • Construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service.
  • Learn to read and construct from design schematics or maps.
  • Manage inventory and equipment required for projects.
  • Learn and be certified on equipment such as line trucks, bucket trucks, cable reel equipment, saws, and drills.
  • Climb poles safely with climbing equipment.
  • Move and relocate RF and Fiber service.
  • Familiarize with NESC safety guidelines.
Qualifications

About You:

  • Prioritize safety in your daily work.
  • Have a track record of high-quality work completion.
  • Enjoy hands-on problem solving.
  • Seek long-term projects.
  • Enjoy teamwork and getting hands dirty.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Can lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Can read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Pass UI test (urinalysis).
  • Have climbing certification or related experience.
  • Practical experience in overhead RF and Fiber construction.
  • Knowledge of network architecture and design.
  • Flagger certified as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.
