Overview
Laborer-Electrical
Position Summary:
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems at jobsites while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient construction site and supporting the overall project.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in laying out work for the crew.
- Preplan daily activities and ensure crew productivity to meet the job schedule.
- Monitor quality control of work performed by craft workers.
- Order and coordinate delivery of necessary materials.
- Complete all required documentation, such as Daily Reports, Safety Reports, ESRs, Inspection Reports, etc.
- Coordinate equipment needs, ensure operators are qualified, and ensure all equipment is maintained and repaired promptly.
- Support the Construction Manager (CM) and General Foreman (GF) in coordinating project activities.
- Perform related trade work as required.
- Travel to different jobsites on short notice as needed.
- Implement improved production methods to enhance best practices within the company.
Quality and Safety Monitoring:
- Monitor crew installation for quality issues.
- Ensure quality work is being completed in work areas.
- Identify ways to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
Safety and Training:
- Promote and adhere to all company and safety policies and procedures.
- Train and instruct crew members in safe work practices.
- Audit safety practices, ensure PPE is available and used properly.
Personnel Management:
- Assist HR and CM with interviewing, hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of craft workers.
- Conduct regular performance reviews.
- Manage up to six employees and Leadmen.
- Train and mentor new workers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 months of related experience or training, or equivalent.
- Prior experience in electrical or construction labor preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Commit to health and safety policies, including Zero Injury principles.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and instructions.
- Apply common sense and follow written and oral instructions.
- Maintain accuracy and follow procedures and standards.
Working Environment:
- Exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and extreme heat.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- Typically loud noise levels.
