Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• Ability to operate equipment such as bucket trucks, bulldozers, forklifts, backhoes, trenchers, directional drills, winches, drills, chainsaws, and high compression tools.
• Knowledge of hazards related to falls, traffic, falling objects, and proper safety equipment usage.
• Ability to perform first aid and CPR.

Skills

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation manuals, and procedures.
• Basic writing and mathematical skills.

Major Tasks

• Underground construction including loading, driving, delivery, digging, and material handling.
• Hand digging with shovels and mechanical tools.
• Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling and conduit.
• Climb into and out of equipment; operate around heavy machinery.
• Work in congested or remote areas, maintaining safety and communication.
• Assist with flagging, property, or site restoration.

External Relationships

• Interact courteously with members, utilities, public officials, and law enforcement.

Other Requirements

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and handle problems with standard solutions.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, weather, electrical hazards; noise levels vary.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionally.
