Job description

Drill Crew Laborer

Support our directional drill construction teams by performing tasks associated with the construction or upgrade of cable television or telephone systems. Duties include general labor related to telecommunications construction, as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor. On-the-job training provided.

Special Offer: Candidates with months of verifiable utility construction experience are eligible for a $0 Gross Hiring Bonus for applications received between August 3 and September 3, provided the job offer and employment start by October 3.

What you'll do...

1. Participate in all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various materials and equipment.
2. Hand dig using shovels and mechanical tools.
3. Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling.
4. Climb into and out of equipment such as trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.
5. Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
6. Work in congested or remote areas.
7. Maintain visual and audible contact with crew members and all moving or stationary persons, vehicles, and objects to ensure safety.
8. Perform general construction work under the direction of Foreman or Supervisor.
9. Flagging, property, or worksite restoration.
10. Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for...

• Class A CDL preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain the required license.
• Good driving record.
• Basic knowledge of operating utility trucks and equipment safely.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus (higher wages apply).
• Effective communication skills.
• Regular and timely attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• At least 6 months of utility construction industry experience.
• Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps.
