REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings, Grounds, and Maintenance

JOB STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt

JOB TYPE: Seasonal

LOCATION: New Windsor, NY

PAY RATE: $17.00 per hour

PURPOSE

Laborer will align his/her scope of work with Healthy Kids Mission, while incorporating Healthy Kids Core Values as the guiding principle for all work activities.

SUMMARY

Healthy Kids is looking for an experienced, skilled, detail-oriented, self-starter to occupy the position of Laborer for the company. The position is responsible for the upkeep of Healthy Kids Programs Buildings including preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations, and on-call work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting the maintenance lead with projects.
• Performing Landscaping services for properties in Monticello and Liberty NY. This includes but is not limited to, mowing, mulch, and general landscaping.
• Performing preventative maintenance.
• Handling basic repairs and maintenance.
• Renovation work.
• Conducting jobs that include painting, light electrical, plumbing, HVAC, Framing, Mudding, Landscaping, and all other skills required for the maintenance and renovation of buildings and grounds.

• Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
• Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
• Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
• Experience performing routine maintenance.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Eye for detail.
• Professional presentation and attitude.
• Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
• Strong time management skills.

Education And Experience

• Experience in the trades preferred.
• Job history of 2 years preferred.

Language Ability

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all third-party payer representatives as well as internal staff members including program staff.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Employee must be able to climb a ladder, up to 30 feet. Employee must be comfortable working on a roof with proper safety equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
