Job summary

Morton Salt is seeking a general laborer for the Mill Department (Packaging and Shipping of Salt Products) in Hutchinson, KS. The role involves housekeeping, observing operations at different workstations, and training on assigned machinery during the probationary period.

Qualifications

  • This is a 24/7 Union Environment, Days/Hours/Shift worked is determined by seniority.

Responsibilities

  • Tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, sanitizing, cleaning bins, unloading package material, supplying fill stations with packing materials, labels, or boxes, making trash bales, etc.
  • Filling paper bags with salt, guiding them through a sewing head to seal them, and palletizing the finished products
  • Driving a forklift to move product in the facility
  • Assisting workers of higher classification in performing their tasks.

Job Summary

The general laborer performs a variety of tasks during their probationary period including but not limited to department housekeeping, observing and working in various workstations, and training on assigned machinery. During the probationary period, the laborer will bid into the specific job openings within the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Laborer for the Mill Department (Packaging and Shipping of Salt Products) your responsibilities will include:
