The City of Slidell is seeking a manual laborer for a general purpose position involving unskilled and semi-skilled tasks. Responsibilities include servicing vehicles, operating equipment, and maintaining city grounds. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and the ability to lift heavy materials. This role requires effective communication skills and the capability to work under various conditions.

Direct supervision by lead crew member; general supervision by Sr. Crew Chief, Assistant Superintendent, or Superintendent.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Must complete computerized assessments in learning aptitude, mechanical aptitude, and candidate profile.
Pickup truck, utility truck, tamper, plate compactor, saws, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone.
Regular use of hands for handling and operating objects; frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and smelling. Must lift up to 90 pounds (public works) or 50 pounds (public utilities) over 25 yards. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Exposure to loud noise, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, electricity, and potential shocks.
Primarily outdoor work in various weather conditions. Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, vibration, and occasional high or precarious places. Exposure to fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards is possible. Noise levels are typically loud.
