This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Temp/Term Appointment Authority to meet Critical Hiring Needs to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: An applicant list will be sent to the hiring official every 10 days until the position is filled.

Duties

• Mowing grass using a powered walking-type lawn mower.
• Cutting weeds using hand or powered weed cutters.
• Clearing lawn and grounds under and around buildings and work areas of foreign materials and disposing of materials as directed.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Position requires wearing a uniform and/or protective gear.
• Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. Further physical requirements include full use of all limbs, joints, muscles, vision, hearing, etc.
• This position requires the ability to lift up to 60 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires the incumbent to work on an intermittent or unscheduled, on-call basis.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element)

Ability to do the work of a LABORER without more than normal supervision. You must be able to perform tasks such as clearing lawn and grounds, mowing grass, cutting weeds, and trimming shrubbery, under the supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes and ensures proper performance. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort and Working Conditions

• Physical Effort: Exerts moderately heavy physical effort in frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, and occasionally heavier objects. Continuous walking, bending, stooping, and reaching are required.
• Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors, involving exposure to temperature extremes, noise, dust, and dirt. There is a possibility of bruises, cuts, and scrapes.
