Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a dedicated groundskeeper to perform routine lawn care and landscape maintenance at our facility. You will work under supervision to maintain exterior areas, ensuring safe and neat surroundings for staff and visitors.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 months of related experience. You will handle basic maintenance tasks, read simple instructions, and participate in a team dedicated to reliable site upkeep.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information.
• Basic arithmetic and measurement skills for daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons: mowing, trimming, edging, planting, pruning, cleaning.
• Assists with snow or dirt removal as needed.
• Suggests appropriate plants for walkways or garden areas.
• Maintains inventory and accountability of tools and hazardous materials.
• Unloads trucks and moves supplies using wheelbarrows or hand trucks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Summary

Under general supervision, cuts and maintains lawns and/or grass. Rakes and maintains leaves, plants, flowers, trees or shrubs.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Provides grounds maintenance in all seasons by performing general maintenance upkeep functions for the facility such as mowing, trimming, edging, planting, clipping, pruning, shearing, spraying, hosing, sprinkling, washing, burning, cutting, light snow removal, sweeping, repairing, cleaning, and mopping as directed by management.
• May need to arrange large scale snow or dirt removal.
• May assist in determining the appropriate plants or shrubs for walkways or garden areas.
• Maintains required inventory, issues control and accountability of tool, equipment and hazardous materials.
• May assist in unloading trucks and moving supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training in a janitorial or groundskeeper capacity.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
