TrueNorth Steel - Fargo is seeking an entry-level Laborer to join our team in Fargo, ND. The role involves working under the Shop Supervisor, operating an overhead crane, forklift, and grinder, with a standard Monday–Thursday shift and overtime as required.

The Laborer will perform tasks in culvert manufacturing or steel fabrication, maintain safety, and develop skills through a structured probationary period. A high school diploma or GED is required and reliability is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Entry level position, with supervision by Shop Supervisor.
  • Must read a tape measure to 1/16 inch.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety and quality requirements.
  • Understand and follow directions from Supervisor or mentor.
  • Master tasks in culvert manufacturing or steel fabrication during probation.
  • Tape measure reading to 1/16".
  • Gain operational experience on equipment in the relevant area.
  • Operate general hand tools and equipment.
  • Use and care for hand tools properly.
  • Keep work areas clean, orderly and hazard-free.
  • Adhere to PPE and report unsafe conditions.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Description

POSITION: Laborer
SHIFT: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (OT as required)
PAY RATE: $18.36 - $20 per hour (DOE) + Full Benefits Package
LOCATION: Fargo, ND

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Laborer position is an entry level position, with all work being completed under the direct supervision of the Shop Supervisor. This position includes using an overhead crane, operating a forklift, and using a grinder.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow all company safety and quality requirements.
  • Understand and follow all reasonable directions provided by the Supervisor, or designated mentor, regarding completion of tasks in written or verbal format.
  • Master, within the prescribed probationary period, tasks associated with the applicable operational area of culvert manufacturing or steel fabrication.
  • Tape measure reading to 1/16".
  • Gain operational experience, within the prescribed probationary period, on equipment associated with the applicable operational area of culvert manufacturing or steel fabrication.
  • Operate general hand tools and equipment as required.
  • Responsible for the proper use and care of hand tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for keeping work areas clean, orderly, and free of hazards.
  • Understand the safe practices outlined in the TrueNorth Steel Safety Manual, utilize and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and to bring any and all unsafe conditions to the immediate attention of the Supervisor.
  • Willing to work flexible hours and overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES
  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to read and understand a tape measure and do simple arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, feet, inches, and fractions.
  • Reasoning Ability- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand instructions, written and oral.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions and the trait of being dependable and trustworthy. Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other people and subordinate personal interests in order to achieve a common goal.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required.
