Job description

Overview

This position involves physical labor and maintenance activities including loading and unloading supplies, operating basic tools and equipment, and performing other duties as assigned. It may include outdoor and on-site tasks as part of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc.; move boxes by hand, handtruck, or dolly; open crates and boxes; cut bands; and stack boxes as directed.
• Dig ditches and trenches with a shovel where grading is not required; fill holes with dirt and level bumps using a shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
• Operate hand lawnmowers or domestic-type powered lawnmowers; clear small trees and bushes with handsaw or clipper when not requiring heavy physical effort.
• Move and arrange furniture as directed; shovel snow manually or use a snowblower if accessible; wash and wax cars and trucks by hand or with a power buffer.
• Use a ladder to replace light bulbs up to 10 feet high; patch holes, paint walls, and install shelving and other equipment securely to walls.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
• This position has a physical lifting requirement and requires a favorable pre-employment physical.
• The incumbent must be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations, including annual influenza vaccinations, and be free of all communicable diseases.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

Qualifying Experience

• Ability to use, control, and clean common hand tools and simple power equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving multiple tasks or steps.
• Physical ability to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions.

Education

Some federal jobs allow education substitution for experience, but this position does not.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements if it is deemed at least equivalent to that gained in the U.S. education system. You must provide evidence when applying.
