Job summary

EPIC Health in Chicago, IL is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician/Technologist to perform testing, process specimens, and ensure quality and safety standards are met. You will support laboratory operations with accuracy and reliability in a patient-centered environment.

The role emphasizes maintaining equipment, following SOPs, and collaborating with Diagnostics staff to deliver timely results and uphold regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Relevant education, training, or experience in laboratory science or a related field.
• Knowledge of specimen processing, testing procedures, and quality control practices.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and follow testing protocols.
• Strong documentation practices and attention to detail.
• Ability to navigate EHR, LIS, and other required software.
• Understanding of laboratory safety and biosafety procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive, prepare, and process specimens according to procedures.
• Perform core chemistry, hematology, and/or PCR testing as trained.
• Analyze specimens and report results within turnaround times.
• Review results and escalate critical values per protocol.
• Prepare reagents, controls, and solutions per SOPs.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment.
• Conduct QC checks, calibrations, and equipment verifications.
• Maintain supplies and report instrument issues to leadership.
• Follow CLIA/OSHA regulations and participate in QA activities.
• Maintain clean workspaces and proper specimen handling procedures.
