Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care seeks a Laboratory Technician II to support daily resource allocation and coordination for smooth lab operations. Responsibilities include specimen handling, data entry, phlebotomy, and equipment maintenance with supervision of shift personnel.

The role is 50% time on 2nd shift (Sat/Sun 12:30–23:00 or 13:00–23:30) with rotating holidays and potential on-call. Requires relevant lab experience or CLA certification; on-campus work with a local healthcare system.

Qualifications

• Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, or
• Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or
• Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities.
• Ensure quality service to clients through communications with external and internal laboratories and support staff.
• Perform or direct routine preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and cleaning as assigned.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
