Job summary

Children's Mercy Kansas City is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to handle specimen collection, receipt and distribution, and to use the LIS for patient identification. This role may perform and report testing as assigned and responds to internal and external inquiries in a cooperative manner.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required; on-the-job training available.
• 1–2 years of related phlebotomy or lab experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to use a Laboratory Information System (LIS) for specimen handling.

Responsibilities

• Specimen handling and distribution
• Use of Information Systems
• Specimen collection (phlebotomy and SWCL) in accordance with CMH policies and procedures
• Customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with CMH shared values
• Performance of waived to moderate complexity testing and reporting; and/or specimen processing under supervision
• Maintains general operations of the Laboratory and performs quality assurance activities
