Job summary

GENEWIZ by Azenta in Waltham, MA is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician I for the Overnight Sequencing department (10am–3pm EST). You'll handle whole plasmid sequencing workflows, perform sample prep, purification, and loading on sequencing machines, working both independently and as a team.

This entry-level role emphasizes following SOPs, maintaining clean work areas, and communicating with customers by email and phone.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 1+ years of lab work experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs and stand/sit for extended periods.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Sort incoming samples.
• Prepare a sequencing template including preparation, amplification, and PCR purification.
• Assist in purifying sequencing templates and load samples onto sequencing machines.
• Perform quality processing with little errors.
• May need to work with automation platforms.
• Communicate with customers by email and phone in a friendly and professional manner.
• Prepare samples to ship to our New Jersey location daily.
• May require overtime and/or weekends.
• All responsibilities from Lab Assistant.
