Hydrogen Group seeks a Laboratory Technician in San Diego, CA to support histology and assay development within an Assay Research and Development team. You will prepare tissue samples, perform FFPE sectioning, conduct H&E staining, and manage image-processing workflows.

Responsibilities include inventory management, maintaining documentation, and following SOPs. On-site, 13-month contract with a Monday–Friday schedule and standard lab duties.

Qualifications

• Hands-on laboratory experience with standard lab techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
• Experience maintaining accurate documentation and SOP adherence.
• Willingness to learn and operate lab software workflows.

• Perform microtome sectioning of FFPE tissue samples.
• Support H&E staining of tissue slides.
• Operate slide-imaging equipment and manage image-processing workflows.
• Organize and track tissue samples, slides, reagents, and laboratory supplies.
• Maintain laboratory organization, inventory, and documentation.
• Follow established laboratory protocols and accurately document completed work.
• Assist with routine equipment maintenance and general laboratory support activities.
• Assist with PCR, sequencing, and other molecular biology workflows as needed.

Pay: $24.00-$29.00/hr

Location: San Diego, CA (La Jolla)

Duration: 13-month contract

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support histology and laboratory operations within an Assay Research and Development team. This role involves tissue sample preparation, slide staining and imaging, laboratory inventory management, and general laboratory support. The ideal candidate will have hands-on laboratory experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to follow established protocols and maintain accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform microtome sectioning of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples.


• Support hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining of tissue slides.


• Operate slide-imaging equipment and manage image-processing workflows.


• Organize and track tissue samples, slides, reagents, and laboratory supplies.


• Maintain laboratory organization, inventory, and documentation.


• Follow established laboratory protocols and accurately document completed work.


• Assist with routine equipment maintenance and general laboratory support activities.


• Depending on experience and training, assist with PCR, sequencing, and other molecular biology workflows.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Hands-on laboratory experience gained through employment, coursework, or other training.


• Experience using pipettes and performing basic laboratory techniques.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.


• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn laboratory software workflows.


• Ability to work onsite and perform routine laboratory tasks safely and reliably.

Preferred Qualifications

• Histology experience, including tissue sectioning, H&E staining, and slide imaging.


• Experience with PCR, next-generation sequencing (NGS), or other molecular biology workflows.


• Experience maintaining laboratory inventories and organized workspaces.
