This position is responsible for performing specialized and technical duties to assist in the operation and maintenance of an instructional laboratory or a technical support service center.

Assists in the operation and maintenance of an instructional laboratory or a technical support service center; performs specialized and technical duties to ensure efficient lab operations. Assists faculty in the use of various equipment, materials, and supplies. Prepares and issues materials and equipment for student use; maintains records of materials and equipment used by students. Prepares instructional materials and equipment for faculty demonstration and student use as requested, following approved procedures. Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory environment. Orders, receives, and stores supplies, materials, and equipment; maintains inventories to ensure adequate quantities for instructional use. Troubleshoots, adjusts, maintains, and performs minor repairs on equipment; reports major repair needs or arranges for repairs according to established procedures. Prepares and maintains records and reports related to laboratory operations and activities as required; operates a variety of equipment related to the specialized area of assignment; performs clerical duties as needed. Assists in coordinating exhibits or the use of lab facilities and ensures the availability of appropriate supplies and equipment. Trains and provides work direction to others as directed. Learns and applies emerging technologies and advances as necessary to perform duties efficiently and in a timely manner. Participates in district/college efforts to increase faculty and staff diversity and to address student achievement gaps; actively contributes to creating a welcoming and inclusive work and educational environment; attends and participates in diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings and events. Performs related duties as assigned. Additionally, the Laboratory Technician may prepare for and host various public functions and maintain budgets for their assigned department.

Desirable Qualifications
Demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service. Prior experience working in healthcare or health education environments. Prior experience and applied knowledge with computer utilization, various computer software, office applications, and specific healthcare programs such as Omnicell and simulation software. Evidence of experience in specialized technical laboratory duties and operations within healthcare or nursing educational settings, including basic knowledge of medical equipment, programming, and ancillary supplies. Ability to analyze and identify lab needs for vendor identification and ordering. Knowledge of requisition and budgeting functions. Ability to address the needs of diverse student and employee populations. Experience approaching work and interactions with colleagues and students in an equity-minded manner. Ability to provide an inclusive and welcoming work and educational environment.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; two years of college-level coursework in the area of specialization and extensive practical experience in the same area. Commitment to diversity. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff. Ability to demonstrate how experience with these factors relates to successfully achieving the goals of the position.
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (schedule and shift are subject to change based on department needs).
