Laboratory Technician - Clinton, IA

Job Summary

The entry-level laboratory technician position is designed to train new technicians in one of five analytical labs within the quality control (QC) laboratory. Responsibilities include preparing process and finished product samples, performing analytical testing with instrumental and wet chemistry methods, and recording results using computerized data systems. Candidates must complete training in one lab before progressing to Laboratory Technician II.

Requirements

• Willingness and ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
• Sample preparation and analysis according to procedures
• Operation of basic lab equipment such as balances, centrifuges, pipettes, pH meters
• Participation in training and safety initiatives
• Accurate data collection, recording, and computer entry
• Timely reporting of errors or unusual conditions
• Maintaining inventory of lab supplies and reagents
• Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office and database use
• Ability to follow complex technical instructions
• Sufficient math skills for lab calculations
• Maintaining cleanliness and safety in work areas
• Reacting promptly to hazards and reporting incidents
• Acceptance of instruction and feedback for continuous improvement
• Ability to relocate equipment and walk long distances, stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs
