Description:

Join the MercyOne Genesis Family! We are looking to hire a Lab Technician!

As a Lab Technician at MercyOne Genesis, you will:

1. Be proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric.
2. Utilize the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and reporting laboratory tests from providers.
3. Educate patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum.
4. Review orders from providers, maintain accuracy in test ordering, and occasionally contact providers' offices to obtain missing orders.
5. Process specimens appropriately, including checking specimen requirements, centrifuging, separating, and storing at the correct temperature to maintain sample integrity.
6. Prepare specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, complete transfer paperwork, and ensure timely processing and transportation of STAT specimens, including coordinating with couriers.
7. Perform waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serology under supervision of an MLT or MT.
8. Keep accurate records such as temperature logs, quality control data, and maintenance logs.

General Requirements:

• Less than 1 year of experience required.
• Medical Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist preferred.

Education:

• High school diploma plus up to 1 year of additional coursework.
